Curriculum
The
Journey to Freedom Program is a combination of the 12 Step Program,
the Alpha Series, and the Relational Ministry Series. Weekly classes
are re-affirmed by weekly processing groups. This format allows
for more discussions of the topics and principles taught in the
classes. Every evening a mandatory class will be presented.

to further assess each residents commitment to this new way of life.
After the first week, all residents are required to find employment
that will not interfere with the schedule of classes, groups, and
meetings.
The
cost of the program is $150.00 per week for each man payable each
Friday. A failure to seek permanent employment, pay program fees
on time and/or refusal to work in the ministry may result in
immediate dismissal from the program.
Program Description
Phase
1 - Orientation
1.
Objective evaluation of historical coping strategies which underlie
the personal dysfunction and relational difficulties that lead to
a negative lifestyle.
2.
A recognition of the need to change through various 12 step groups,
as well as individual counseling.
3.
the development of a plan to become financially independent and
responsible by the end of the program.
Phase
2 - Regeneration
The
second phase of the Journey emphasizes the Biblical concept of a
new identity on which new coping skills are built. Through a variety
of classes, groups, and counseling sessions, a healthy self-image
is developed to counter the poor self-esteem that plagues most of
us. Utilizing Biblical Truths to establish a genuine sense of personal
worth, this phase of the Journey has two main goals:
1.
To reinforce a healthy self image by constantly reviewing the Biblical
truth of our New Identity.
2.
To overcome past failures and hurts by recognition of a new destiny
and opportunities.
Relational
Ministry
Personal
recovery is not really complete until it is demonstrated in our
relationships with others. Learning that we are truly awesome spirit
beings with magnificent worth as persons is of no value unless it
liberates us to love. For this reason, the third and final phase
of the Journey to Freedom is devoted to learning to relate to others
in a healthy manner. The main goals of this phase are:
1.
Recognition of the true meaning and characteristics of divine love.
2.
Acceptance of the personal responsibility to love others with a
divine love by actually practicing it on a daily basis.
3.
A Commitment to share the message of hope as a lifestyle rather
than a religious duty.
